We stopped to put on our rain suits around 3 p.m. on July 29. Good thing we stopped or we might have been covered by the mudslide. We are both in pretty good shape considering that we are in our late 60s and early 70s. We were riding in heavy rain storm and what I thought was muddy water running across the road. It turned out to be the edge of the mudslide, and suddenly we were in the rocks before I could stop the bike. We were having a wonderful time and enjoying the spectacular scenery up to that point. We had left Michigan on July 8th and had ridden just over 5000 miles at the time of the accident.
Thanks for all you efforts in providing "the rest of the story.” We count our blessing every day for "God" taking care of us during our 2009 summer bike tour which ended after 5,000 miles.
